Driving a 4x4 off-road is an exhilarating experience, but it has to be balanced with care of the environment. Land Rover is committed to sound environmental practice in all areas of activity and works with government agencies, environmental groups and local planning authorities to help protect our planet.
|
Through the fragile earth programme, Land Rover is committed to protecting the global environment.
We ensure that environmental best practice lies at the heart of all our activities, from the design of our vehicles and the development of our manufacturing processes to encouraging responsible off-road driving at all levels.

Our instructors play a pivotal role in this process - we teach drivers how to use the technology at their fingertips to optimise vehicle performance in an environmentally responsible way.
Land Rover's Off-Road Code further encourages respect for the environment by making drivers aware of rights of access, ground conditions and other risk-related issues. Land Rover have just recently introduced a carbon offset programme incorporated in the cost of all their vehicles, for more information, click here
With that capability comes responsibility and Land Rover's Fragile Earth commitment is an ongoing approach to ensure that our actions reduce our impact on the environment.
As part of this commitment we have developed our own off-road driving code to promote responsible driving off-road and we actively support conservation, environmental and humanitarian projects across the globe, through the sponsorship of five international conservation organisations: The Born Free Foundation, Earthwatch Institute, The Royal Geographical Society with IBG, Biosphere Expeditions, China Exploration & Research Society.
All Land Rover Experience Centres are carefully managed in a sustainable way to ensure there is no irreparable damage to, or erosion of, the local landscape. A measure of wear and tear is inevitable in off-road driving, but the courses are maintained as carefully as our vehicles. Repair, regeneration and replanting are continuous processes, ensuring that off-road driving at our Centres will be a pleasure for many years to come.
